Wages in the Computer Science Field Empty Wages in the Computer Science Field

My name is Ryan Chase. Many people debate about how wages should change for specific jobs, such as minimum wage jobs. As a potential computer science major as well as a student at the University of New Mexico, I believe that hard work shouldn't go unrecognized. But one thing that is overlooked are the jobs that already hold high wages, like computer scientists. Computer scientists have and deserve high starting wages along with high potential wages because they have an extreme impact on the future. affraid

According to an article from the Dailymail.com (Title: And the Geeks Shall Inherit the Best Pay), computer scientists from oxford University have the highest graduate salaries. "They earn an average of $43,895 pounds Shocked  six months after leaving the university", which is an extreme amount of money. This ridiculous salary is because of the years of training to solve complex problems by thinking clearly, deeply, and rigorously. One might argue that many different jobs require a person to do those things, which is totally correct. The difference with computer scientists is that they can solve these complex problems through programming different computers and machines. More and more jobs are being taken over by machines. Eventually most jobs will be run by machines. Computer Scientists program these machines to do their jobs. Because of the high impact that computer science has on the world, computer scientists deserve their high pay.

I would suggest a translation of pounds to American dollars, being the rate is much higher in American. I agree though that computer scientists/engineers deserve their pay. More importantly, they will always have a place in society with the nature of their work.

I agree that computer scientists deserve their high pay, however I feel that they should have more than six months of experience before they start earning that amount. My research showed that psychologists with more experience make a large amount more than those with less experience, and this is justified because someone who has been in the field longer will obviously be more skilled and productive. I feel that the same idea could be related to your topic.

I agree with the argument the above statement is making. Technology is being used by everyone for most of their basic tasks. All of this is possible because of computer scientist. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2020 there will be 1.4 million new computer science jobs and there won't be enough qualified computer scientist to fill half of those spots. As computer science is the future of education, computer scientist deserve their high pay.
